Hickory Tussock moth caterpillar

white caterpillar with black spots and stripes

Despite Hoax-Slayer advising this miniature creature is not a real threat, I’m happy I was not enchanted enough to touch the fluffy little blob!

  1. You did well not to touch, the hairs cause itchy rashes (contact dermatitis) in many people, particularly those prone to allergies. They are microscopically barbed and may cause serious medical complications if they are transferred from the hands to the eyes.

You did well to spot it from head height, looks well camouflaged, nice capture.

    1. Great info to know. Thanks!
