Giantness

A creature alighted on my thumb and I stared at the appearance of what could have been three sets of eyes. I wondered aloud, “What reason would this bug need to have so many pairs of eyes?”

I was somewhat amazed when the green bug said to me, “I live in perfect autonomy. I can appear as I wish and I can be what I want to be.” I looked in disbelief, not at the words but that the bug had spoken. I think the bug thought I was judging and it said, “Your giantness does not intimidate me.”

I said, “Giantness is not a word.” The bug said, “There you see, you tried to bind me into conformity and I will have none of that!” With that he/she, jumped from my finger and alighted on a blade of grass. Bugs can be so weird.

  1. A bug can be so much without bugging itself, and not care if it’s bugging others. Love the clarity in your thought and the sheer poetry of your prose. 😀
